Disaster Response

When disaster strikes, it is local churches that provide the first response to their communities. This basic understanding—that disaster response is local—forms the foundation for UMCOR’s US disaster training and response.

It takes a team of people from United Methodist Churches in the Western North Carolina Conference, who are invited by the host conferences, to help people recover from disasters.

If you would like to be part of such a team, contact your local pastor or the Uwharrie District Office. You may also volunteer to join with other teams from our Conference. A passion to serve, fair physical health, and training certification are the only requirements.
